Gundula has been in South Africa since 2004 where she was part of the ACTS (AIDS, Counselling, Training and Support.) The area where she works - south of the Kruger National Park - has an HIV/AIDS rate of around 40% for pregnant women but can be as high as 70%. this clinic specializes in the care of people living with HIV/AIDS.  Gundula headed up the Home Based Care Team until 2012, which worked in the surrounding rural communities and treated patients at home. 

 

Gundula also volunteers in the Primary Health Care Clinic which involves a mobile clinic to attend to employees in the area, as well as caring for prostitutes around the Nelspruit area.
